Re-defining Rotterdam as a major city of culture

Thanks to a generous donation from the Droom and Daad Foundation, the National Museum of Photography was able to purchase and renovate the landmark Santos building.
The Droom en Daad Foundation has created a comprehensive long-term plan to invest in Rotterdam’s cultural infrastructure. Two museums will open in 2025 – ours and the Fenix Museum, an art museum about migration.
In the next decade, Rotterdam will transform itself into a new centre for European culture. The plan includes a dance house, new spaces for music making, improved public parks and a series of high-profile public art commissions.
